Welcome to Halifax Backpackers

Halifax Backpackers offers an authentic Halifax experience to travellers from around the world. Located in Halifax’s vibrant North End, it’s just a five-minute walk from our comfortable hostel to the Halifax waterfront and all other major amenities.

As a small, independent hostel, Halifax Backpackers embodies the grassroots community spirit that makes Halifax unique. We believe in inexpensive backpacking and positive communal experiences. We offer private and dormitory rooms at reasonable prices, and we provide free linens, Wi-Fi, maps and information. Stay for a night, a week or several months – we’re happy to have our historic building be your home away from home.

Our friendly, well-informed staff are here to help you connect with all the city has to offer – and sometimes that’s very close to home: Friday and Saturday nights see us hosting a variety of evening events – from poetry slams to dance parties – in the café.

Check-in and check-out

Check-in time is 2 p.m.
We’re happy to arrange a late check-in for a $10 fee. Email halifaxbackpackers@gmail.com to set it up.
Check-out is 11 a.m.

ID please

All guests must provide a valid government ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) and a valid credit card upon arrival, as well as a $20 (cash) key deposit.

Cancellations

Cancellations are fully refundable with 48 hours notice. Guests who cancel with less than 48 hours will be subject to our strict cancellation policy and will be charged for their entire stay.

Guest Conduct

We strive to provide a safe, fun atmosphere for our guests. We don’t have a curfew, but we do expect guests to keep quiet hours after midnight. Please ensure that you conduct yourself reasonably and responsibly, and refrain from disturbing other guests. Failure to adhere to this requirement may result in you being asked to leave the hostel, in which event all charges and additional charges shall become immediately payable.
